I'm a college graduate with a degree in English literature/education and a certification in the Montessori method of early childhood education. I decided while student teaching that I enjoyed babies most of all, and I became a nanny.
I was a nanny for 6 years until I had my own child 5 years ago. I've had experience with many different families and parenting methods, as well as experience being a mom and dealing with the 24 hour nature of parenthood. I've used cloth diapers, swaddled, and breastfed my own child, as well as mentoring others.
In 2003, I joined a mentoring program for low income teenage moms, and I worked with a young woman from late in her pregnancy, through her birth, and until her daughter was two years old.
I completed my Postpartum Doula training at Natural Resources in San Francisco, CA. I am a member of the international organization DONA (Doulas of North America).
